Nancy Nelson, 79, a native of Montrose, Mich., and a resident of Fairhope since 1948, died Oct. 12, 2010 at Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Mich.
After the death of her husband, she moved back to Montrose, Mich., with her daughter and son-in-law.
She retired from South Central Bell after 26 years of service where she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. aux. She was also a member of St. John Evangelist Episcopal church in Robertsdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pepper Nelson; her parents, Curtis and Norma McNally; brother, Curtis McNally; son, Marty Nelson and his wife, Gloria “Ski” Nelson; and one grandson, Michael Lee Wiggins.
Survivors include a daughter, Noni (Hank) Stafford of Montrose, Mich.; sister, Effie (Niki) Langley of Loxley; three grandchildren, Nancy T. Nelson of Mobile, Pepper Nelson of Robertsdale and Hannah Scott of Mobile; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Wiggins of Kansas, Christian Wiggins of Silverhill and Austin Nelson of Silverhill; brother and sisters-in-law, Robert and Elain Nelson, Irene Nelson, of Fairhope and Kathy McNally of Montgomery; many nieces, nephews, cousins; her two racing buddies; and fur person, Otis.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Interment will be held at Colony Cemetery in Fairhope.
