National Naval Aviation Museum begins ‘History Hunt’

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola is getting into the football spirit with the introduction of a new “College All-Stars History Hunt” game.

As the fall season swings into full gear, fans all across the nation are clearing schedules and securing their spot in front of the television for 13 jam-packed weeks of exhilarating victories and crushing defeats.

It’s a time when old college rivalries heat up, and we cheer on the stars of our favorite sports teams.

Naval aviation has its own brand of all-stars — men and women who earned their accolades, not on the athletic field, but in service to our country on the front lines of battle or in the depths of space.

Visitors to the National Naval Aviation Museum are able to pick up a free game card to find some of these College All-Stars who attended the same Division I schools that command our loyalties each season.

After completing the game by stamping all eight clues at appropriate stamp stations, stop by the Flight Deck Store to register for a chance to win tickets to the 2009 Under Armour Senior Bowl and other great prizes, sponsored by the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation Inc..

The College All-Stars History Hunt game is free and open to the public.

Previous games include the Famous Flyers History Hunt, where players learned tales of heroic and daring pilots, and the LOST History Hunt, an adventure through hidden history to discover clues for basic survival skills to get off of the LOST desert island.

Admission to the museum is free.

For a complete list of upcoming events at the museum, visit www.navalaviationmuseum.org, or call the foundation at (850) 453-2389 or (800) 327-5002.

The National Naval Aviation Museum features nearly 300,000 square feet of displays, and is one of the world’s largest aviation museums. Located aboard Pensacola Naval Air Station, the facility boasts more than 150 beautifully restored aircraft representing Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard aviation and is one of Florida’s most-visited museums.
