FOLEY – A trio of Foley Lions signed to play college football on Wednesday, National Signing Day.
Running back Marcus Washington signed with Nicholls State, kicker Jorge Santamaria signed with Southeastern Louisiana University and defensive lineman Tyler O'Neal signed with Samford University.
"Signing day is always exciting," Foley head coach Todd Watson. "It is a proud day for all of us at Foley High School to see these guys succeed. It is good for our youngers athletes, too, because they see the work these guys put in on the field and in the classroom and it inspires them to do the work too."
Washington carried 98 times for 625 yards and 16 touchdowns and threw five touchdown passes his senior year. O'Neal had 45 tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries this season. Santamaria had 43 touchbacks out of 50 kickoffs, 28 punts for over 1,000 yards and five field goals. He completed 36 of 39 PATs and was chosen to play in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic in December.
