Doris Ruth Crane Naylor-Sullins, born Sept. 23, 1913, in Washington, D.C., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at the John McClure Snook Memory Care facility.
She graduated from George Washington University and was employed with the General Accounting Office. She married and became a typical Army housewife, making a home for her family in many different houses and locations around the world. This fulfilled her love of travel and meeting people and investigating the artifacts of different cultures.
She was a resident of Baldwin County for 40 years, where she was a founding member of “Save Our Bay” and very active in the Baldwin County League of Women Voters. A Longtime Presbyterian, she was a member of Trinity and Orange Beach Presbyterian churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Chaplain (Col.) Duncan Norwood Naylor; and her second husband Paul Sullins.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Rebecca Naylor of Spanish Fort; son, Duncan Norwood Naylor of Glen Cove, N.Y.; grandson, Duncan Satterlee Naylor, and granddaughter, Persephone Crane Naylor, both of Glen Cove.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all the caregivers at Snook Memory Care who so lovingly and tirelessly cared for our mother.
There will be a graveside service in Norwood, La.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Presbytery of South Alabama.
