NBI Foundation gala raises funds for digital X-ray room

BAY MINETTE, Ala.  — As the North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation unveiled an evening of Venetian-style elegance at its 16th annual gala on April 2, it also raised $60,000 to benefit the hospital’s fundraising campaign.

“The North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation gala began in 1995, and it’s still going strong and better than ever,” said Mary Elisabeth Duryea, foundation president, in her welcome address to more than 300 guests. “We serve the northern end of Baldwin County with the very best healthcare anyone can find.”

Through ticket sales and live and silent auctions, guests supported the foundation’s campaign to fund a $300,000 digital X-ray room in the hospital’s emergency department.

“The addition of this X-ray room will enhance the patient experience by offering convenience and a prompt turn-around time of test results,” explained Ormand Thompson, administrator of North Baldwin Infirmary.

The Don Lewis Orchestra set the stage for entertainment and dance, and Classic City Catering provided the Italian cuisine.

Organized by gala chair Elizabeth Strom and committee chair members Karmen Still, Elizabeth Day and Emily Taylor, the successful event was supported by 200 auction contributors and diamond-level sponsorships from Baldwin EMC, Baldwin Pole and Piling Co., Fresenius Medical Care, Mobile Emergency Group/Baldwin Physician Services, North Baldwin Infirmary Auxiliary, Regions Bank, Stuart Contracting Company and Radiologist, PC.

The North Baldwin Infirmary Foundation gala was held at the John F. Rhodes Civic Center in Bay Minette.
