Laura Armstrong Neal, 94, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Robertsdale Health Care Center.

She was born, Sept. 10, 1913, and raised in Barefoot Springs, Miss., and married to Ross Neal for 58 years.

She worked in the Pelahatchie, Miss., public school cafeteria for many years. She loved to garden and she loved her family.

The family expresses deepest and most sincere appreciation to friends and family members for the outpouring of sympathy, prayers, food and support that has been most uplifting as they celebrate the life and mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Dan and Curtis; her parents; and son, Travis Neal.

Survivors include a brother, Travis Armstrong of Brandon; daughter, Carole Ann “Cleo” Walters of Fairhope; grandchildren, Mike Walters of San Angelo, Texas, Sherri (John) Lipscomb of Cincinnati, Dayna (James) May of Magee, Miss., Natacia (John) Storm of Madison, Miss., and Chad (Casey) Neal of Birmingham; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 11 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Morton, Miss. Burial followed at Barefoot Springs Cemetery in Pelahatchie, Miss.

Pallbearers were Danny Armstrong, J.W. Barnes, Gary Carpenter, John Lipscomb, James May, John Storm. Honorary pallbearers were Brent Bowman and Jerry Neal.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Barefoot Springs Baptist Cemetery Fund, 468 Barefoot Springs Road, Pelahatchie, MS 39145
