Kate McLeod Neel, 78, a native of Green County, Miss., and a longtime resident of Elberta, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007 at her home.
She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and taught school in Mississippi, Mobile County. and Baldwin County. She served as treasurer and taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church Of Elberta.
Survivors include her husband, Granvil Billie Neel of Elberta; daughter, Kathy (Paul) Salzmann of Elberta; three sons, Granvil Billie (Kathy) Neel Jr. of Elberta, Kenny (Lita) Neel of Auburn and Ron Neel of Perdido Beach; sister, Mary Pearce of New Augusta, Miss.; three brothers, Arnold McLeod of Lucedale, Miss., Howard McLeod of Deltona, Fla., and Pete McLeod of Lucedale, Miss.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at the First Baptist Church of Elberta with the Rev. Charles Carpenter officiate. Interment will follow at Elberta Public Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Old Vernal School, 202 Pete McLeod Road, Lucedale, MS, 39452.
