Mary Ethell Griffith Nelson, 86, a longtime resident of Fairhope, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope.
She was preceded in death by herhusband, John Laverne Nelson.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth N. (Buck) Bishop, June N. (Benny) Long and Rebecca “Becky Nelson, all of Fairhope; two sons, James P. (June) Nelson of Queen Creek, Ariz., and John E. (Vicki) Nelson of Anniston; grandchildren, Sherrie B. (Scott) Clark of Pensacola, Fla., Mark S. (Tracey) Nelson of Bend, Ore., Matt W. (Millie) Nelson of Anniston, Jason D. (Amber) Long of Daphne, Scott N. (Linda) Long of Daphne, Amanda N. (Cooper) Freeman of Oxford, Kerry N. (Gene) Shaw of Anniston and Scott Welch of Oxford; great-grandchildren, Seth and Spencer Clark, Cooper Long, Laykin and Ryleigh Colgrove, Austin Gregory, Ian and Kade Shaw, Kelly, Reaves and Will Nelson, Christopher Welch; brother, Jack Griffith of Mobile; sisters-in-law, Mary N. Owen of Fleming Island, Fla., Grace N. McGinley of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Flo Nelson of Daphne; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services and visitation were held Monday, Nov. 9 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. Interment followed at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Fairhope.
