While standing ever ready to respond to the calls of service in our area, members of our Gulf Shores Fire Rescue staff have also been hard at work constructing what has just come on line as Gulf Shores Fire Rescue Station 3.
For almost two years, the GSFR team has poured their hearts and souls into expanding their facilities to include a new station that will service the residents along the Fort Morgan peninsula. Members of the Gulf Shores Fire Rescue staff performed, in-house, almost all of the construction, and 100% of the detail work on Station 3; and because of their combined skills and efforts, the City saw tremendous cost savings throughout the construction phase.
Gulf Shores Fire Rescue has worked meticulously to create a station that will not only fill the needs of the department, but also act as a great asset to the City of Gulf Shores. According to GSFR Station 3 manager, Lt. Wayne Redditt, “One of the major benefits of the new station is that it allows for shorter response times to calls
that come out from Palmetto Court on Regency Road, all the way down Fort Morgan Road.”
As of May 4, Station 3 was staffed with a crew onsite for 24 hours, and was fully operational to answer the call of duty. Though there are still some “finishing touches,” this station is now on-line and ready to serve our community.
Gulf Shores Fire Rescue Station 3 is located at 18069 Alabama 180 in Gulf Shores. Deputy Chief Keith Martin says that the department is planning a Grand Opening sometime after the Hangout Music Festival.
