Newest attraction on the Backcountry Trail opens in Orange Beach

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - The latest addition on the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail system through Gulf State Park officially opened to the public this morning.  A ceremonial 'caution tape' cutting highlighted the grand opening of the new family and youth attraction, named Bouldering Park.  The outdoor play area is located at the Pavilion complex, which is roughly at mid-trail of the entire Branyon trail system.

The Bouldering Park features climbing boulders, another adventure attraction on the heels of Gulf Adventure Center's recent opening , which is located across Lake Shelby from the western trail heads of the Branyon Backcountry.

The mixed-use trail system includes connectivity between six distinct trails, covering a combined 11 miles across the marsh and upland habitat just off the beaches at Gulf State Park, including trail heads adjacent to Orange Beach City Hall as well as the SportsPlex facility.
