SPANISH FORT, Ala.—The Delta Explorer, Blakeley State Park’s eco-tour pontoon boat, will have its next walk-on excursion on Saturday.
Recent spectacles include the sight of a young bald eagle fighting with an osprey over a fish on the Tensaw River, unusual bird cries, critters sunning and seasonal plant life along the waterways.
Delta waters have been high but smooth riding for the school children on field trips and adult passengers aboard the tour boat, which leaves from the Blakeley Park dock and returns after a two-hour excursion into the back waters of the Delta.
The May 2 ranger-narrated trip is from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis but can be reserved in advance by paying with a major credit card.
Tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children 6-12, and free to children 4 to 6.
For reservations call 626-5581.
Blakeley Park is located on Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of the Spanish Fort intersection of 225 and U.S. 31. Private charters are also available by calling 626-0798.
