FOLEY, Ala. - The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office reports nine individuals were arrested for alleged involvement in multi-kilo drug-trafficking from Austin, Texas to Foley.

According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, all nine suspects were arrested and charged with:

• money laundering

• attempt to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine

• possession with intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine

• possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine

• conspiracy

Lt. Clint Cadenhead, Baldwin County Drug Task Force Lieutenant, said five of the suspects were arrested Wednesday. Three of the individuals were arrested June 20 during a residence search that resulted in investigators seizing 1 kilo of cocaine, cash and three handguns, Cadenhead said.

"Those arrests were made during the time of the search of the house," Cadenhead said Friday. "The other six have subsequently been indicted by the Western District of Texas."

The arrests from Wednesday include: Jessica Frith, 25, of Summerdale; Jennifer Rew, 27, of Summerdale; Charles Baker Jr., 23, of Foley; Jeffrey Smith Jr., 24, of Summerdale; and William Harbison, 22, of Gulf Shores.

The suspects arrested June 20 include: Richardo Alonzo Loranzo, 22, of Foley; Javier Romero Rodriguez, 20, of Foley; and Salbador Romero, 19, of Foley.

Mark Rew, 31, of Foley, is in custody in Austin, Cadenhead said.

"He was already taken into custody and has been for about a month," Cadenhead said.

The suspects were arrested by the Baldwin County Drug Task Force and the Mobile D.E.A. They will be transferred to the Western District of Texas to face federal charges.

Cadenhead said he does not know if the drug trafficking was part of a larger-scale operation.

"It's always part of a bigger picture," he said. "This was our part."
