Nine BMAC Geckos were named to Southeastern Swimming’s All-Star teams for the 2008-2009 Short Course Season. In addition, one Gecko was identified as a Top-Ten swimmer. Thousands of swimmers from 69 teams in Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida compete in Southeastern Swimming (SES) events.

Swimmers 14 and under qualify for an All-Star team by having a top-five ranking in at least one event for their age category. Swimmers 15 and above compete for a Top-Ten ranking in each event by age group.

Katie Cronin (Daphne) qualified in three events for the girls eight and under All-Star team. She ranked in the top five in the 25- and 50-yard backstroke as well as the 100-yard individual medley.

SES named four Geckos to the girls’ 11-12 All-Star team. Meredith Phillips (Daphne) ranked in the top five in five events: 200-yard freestyle, 100- and 200-yard backstroke, and 50- and 100-yard butterfly.

Carrie Beverly (Jackson) qualified in both the 50- and 200-yard butterfly. Frances Harris (Mobile) ranked in the 100-yard backstroke and Olivia Hudson (Fairhope) ranked in the 400-yard individual medley.

Head coach Rich Suhs said, “These girls have demonstrated the meaning of the proverb which says, ‘Iron sharpens iron.’ They encourage and challenge one another to keep performing at the top level at every event.”

Hannah Legg’s (Fairhope) rankings in the 200-yard backstroke and 400-yard individual medley earned her a spot on the girls’ 13-14 All-Star team.

Jessica Dubose’s (Daphne) place on the All-Star team came from her performance in the 100-yard butterfly.

Stephen Jellenc (Montrose) qualified for the boys 11-12 All-Star team for his performance in the 400-yard individual medley. Tyler Phelps (Loxley) ranked in the top five with his 200-yard breaststroke time, yielding him a spot on the boys 13-14 All-Star team.

SES named Michael Dubose (Daphne) a Top-Ten swimmer in the 50- and 200-yard butterfly for boys 17-18.

The Eastern Shore Parents Aquatics Foundation operates BMAC that offers swimming lessons for all ages, tri-athlete training, master's swimming, lap swimming, high school swimming, and summer league swimming.
