DAPHNE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Tigers and Daphne Trojans will open their 6A Region 2 schedule tonight at Jubilee Stadium in Daphne.
BCHS (0-1, 0-0) has struggled through 13 straight losses and will have its hands full against the No. 1-ranked defending state champs, but Daphne (1-0, 0-0) head coach Glenn Vickery said the Tigers are always dangerous and will be ready to take advantage of any Trojan Mistakes.
“Baldwin County has big-play capabilities,” he said. “We cannot allow them to make big plays for us to have a chance and we have to improve in all areas. Our kicking game has to improve. We have always played each other with lots of intensity. The games have always been hard hitting and emotional.”
Vickery added that the Tigers’ offense has the weapons to win.
“Their offense has a lot of good players. They love to run the ball and mix in their passing game. Andre Cox is a fine running back, Trevor Anderson is a good receiver and quarterback Nathan Jones is a good one back there.”
Baldwin County head coach Bobby Moore said his team is working hard to get better each week, but will be tested by a solid Daphne team.
“They are talented and I believe well deserving of that ranking,” Moore said. “They seem to be playing at a high level and almost a mid-season form already. But all we can do is work on ourselves and not worry about other folks. We need to be more consistent overall. We played about two-and-a-half quarters pretty well the other night, but then we would have a negative play and undo the positive. But these guys want to get better and I know we will. So, we are going to get ready and get better ourselves and try to be a pretty good football team before we’re finished.”
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. tonight at Jubilee Stadium.
