BAY MINETTE, Ala. — 6A No. 3 Baldwin County High School’s baseball team came back from a 3-0 deficit Friday night to win their area opener against McGill-Toolen 7-6.
Janseen Boeschen started on the mound for BCHS where he gave up two hits and walked four batters for three runs before the Tigers turned a 1-2-3 double play to close out the top of the first inning.
Boeschen quickly redeemed himself with a three run home run bringing in Chris Andreoli and Jordan Ebert to bring the game tied at 3-3. In the top of the second Micheal Radoslovich received a sacrifice out to bring in Matthew Zambo bt Baldwin County couldn't come back as they went three up and three down in the second inning.
With McGill up by one, Boeschen hit Alex Bessonen and David Mosely drove in Bessonen with a single to bring the score 5-3. In the bottom of the third Andreoli hit a double for BCHS followed by a Jordan Ebert RBI single to bring the game back within one at 5-4.
Boeschen and company were able to hold the Yellow Jackets the next three innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Tucker Miller opened up with a single and Kristian Johnson hit a homer down the first base line to give Baldwin County its first lead of the the game at 6-5.
The lead was short lived as McGill's Josh McCarron scored on a wild pitch by Chris Andreoli to tie the game at 6. BCHS responded with a double from Boeschen and an RBI single from Jake Swearingen for the win.
BCHS went on to lose the second two games of the three-game series by scores of 4-0 and 4-3.
The Tigers will play area rivals Satsuma Friday night at home in a double header with the first pitch at 4 p.m.
