FAIRHOPE, Alabama — No. 6 Prattville held a powerful Fairhope offense scoreless and forced three turnovers en route to a 38-0 win in the Class 6A quarterfinals on Friday at W.C. Majors Field.

Fairhope (10-3) had not been held scoreless since a loss to Opelika in the 2006 state playoffs. The Pirates had averaged 42 points per game until Friday’s loss.

Prattville (11-1) took control early after Jake Rhodes picked off Fairhope quarterback Chase Domino and returned it from midfield to the Fairhope 13 with four minutes left in the first quarter. Justin Thomas carried 13 yards for Prattville’s first score on the next play.

Fairhope fumbled at its 42 on its next possession, and Thomas carried four yards for the Lions’ second score three plays later.

Jalen Whitlow added a touchdown run for Prattville in the second quarter and the Lions led 21-0 at the half.

Prattville’s Jeremiah Gardner took the opening second half kickoff back 65 yards to Fairhope’s 30, and Kegan Gaither hit a field goal to extend the Lion lead to 24-0.

On Fairhope’s ensuing drive, Patrick Parker interecepted Domino and returned it to the Pirate 16. Stanley Mays carried for the 2-yard score three plays later, and Prattville led 31-0 at the end of the third.

The Lions opened the fourth quarter with an 18-play, 8-minute drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by George Michael Rowe.

The Lions host Central-Phenix City in the semifinals on Friday.
