Nominations sought for Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce Man, Woman of the Year

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Thursday, Jan. 5 is the deadline for nominations for the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce’s Man and Woman of the Year.

The awards will be handed out at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet which will be held Jan. 19 at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale.

“This is a longstanding tradition of the Chamber, recognizing the lifetime achievements of two special individuals each year,” said Jamie Mangion, director of operations for the Chamber.

The nominee does not have to be a Chamber member or associated with a business organization. Charles Murphy, currently serving his fifth term as Robertsdale’s mayor, was the 2010 Chamber Man of the Year. Catholic Social Services Director Michelle Prockup was last year’s Chamber Woman of the Year.

“It should be someone who has distinguished themselves for active support of community projects at personal sacrifice,” Mangion said, “for aiding those persons less fortunate and for livingin in a manner which inspires affection, respect and admiration.”

Nomination forms are available at the Chamber’s website centralbaldwin.com. Nomination forms can also be picked up at the Chamber office on Highway 59 in Robertsdale, call 251-947-2626 or email jmangion@centralbaldwin.com to have a form faced or emailed to you.

Jan. 5 is also the nomination deadline for the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year, which will also be announced at the Jan. 19 meeting. Jerry Rezek was named the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year for 2010. Mickey Wiley earned the title of community Volunteer of the Year for 2010.
