Norman F. Ackermann Sr., 73, a native of Memphis, Tenn., a longtime resident of Gulf Shores, and resident Canton, Miss., for the last seven years, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2010 at home.
He was a devoted husband and father. He worked as a technical instructor of plumbing and pipefitting at a vocational school and also served as a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Ackermann and Terry Ackermann.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Esther R. Ackermann of Canton, Miss.; two daughters, Vicki Ackermann and Lisa Ackermann, both of Canton; son, Norman Ackermann of Houston; brother, Wayne (Carolyn) Ackermann of Mobile; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial noon on Saturday, Sept. 11 at St. Margaret Queen of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley with Father Paul G. Zoghby as celebrant. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
