Young engineers are taking center stage during the Junior Vehicle Engineering camp offered by the North Baldwin Coalition for Excellence in Education in Bay Minette. The campers are building projects with gears and motors with Lego kits. Under the guidance of camp volunteer Andrew Brannan, Cade McDill, Mason Smith, Sam Day and Jackson Reid work together to build a vehicle.

In the weeklong camp, students learn basic engineering principles, gears and gear ratios, simple machines, forces in motion, problem solving and communication skills. After completing the bid, Jack Rice, left, and Cayson Langham put their vehicle in motion. In the background is Eli Emmons, who is watching the action unfold.
