Jack Raymond “Pappy” Nutt, 81, a native of Ludlow, Miss., and a resident of Loxley, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.

He served in the U.S. Navy, was a former deacon of Calvary Baptist Church, Foley, retired from Phillips Petroleum Oil Company and was one of three founders to establish a Christian church in Tehran, Iran.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nova L. Nutt of Loxley; six daughters, Faye Wilson Raley of Bon Secour, Julia Shores of Houston, Crystal Nutt Kilgore of Montgomery, Karen Nutt of Loxley, Carolyn Nutt of Booneville, Mo., and Kristen Nutt of Foley; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 13 at Mack Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 14 from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Long officiating. Burial followed at Pine Rest Memorial Park, Foley.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Christian Life Church.
