Jordan Don Odom, 68, born Oct. 7, 1939 in Bon Secour, a longtime resident of Fairhope, died Sunday, July 27, 2008.

He lived many years in Foley and graduated from Foley High School before moving to Fairhope.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard, serving on active duty in the Berlin Crisis in 1961-1962 and in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm 1990-1991.

He deployed numerous times with his National Guard unit durning training exercises.

He was a member of the Fairhope Volunteer Fire Deptarment and former Commander of the VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.J. and Maudie Odom; sisters, Esther Stafford and May Ola Crow.

Survivors include a son, Shannon Scott Odom of Fairhope; daughter, Jeanice (Bryan) Dunbar of Perdido Key, Fla.; grandson, Wolfe Cronin; brothers, Stephen and Morgan Odom of Foley, Joe Thomas Odom of Fairhope; the love of his life, Betty Hoyle of Summerdale; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairhope Veterans Memorial Fund, 351 Grand Ave., Fairhope, AL 36532 or the charity of your choice.
