SILVERHILL, Ala. — Thanks to the quick thinking of one of its officers, the Silverhill Police Department arrested a robbery suspect within 12 hours of when the incidents occurred.
Silverhill Police Chief Kim Wasdin said six robberies were reported between 2 and 5 a.m. Sunday, July 31, including robberies from five vehicles. Items were also reported stolen from the carport of one residence.
“Officer Jimmy Clemmons received an inadvertant anonymous tip that there was an attempt to sell some items in the Foley area,” Wasdin said. The items included a generator, GPS units and various tools. “He was able to track the suspect back to his parents' home in the Silverhill area where he was arrested.”
Joshua Edward Bass, 28, whose address is listed on the Baldwin County Corrections Center website as being on South Boulevard in Silverhill, was arrested and charged with one count of theft of property, second degree, which carries a bond of $7,500, and one count of theft of property, third degree, which carries a bond of $1,000.
Reserve officer Darrell Carlos assisted in the arrest, Wasdin said.
As of Tuesday morning, Bass remained in the Baldwin County Jail facility awaiting bond.
According to the Baldwin County Corrections Center website, Bass has a record of 18 arrests dating back to 2003, when he was arrested on felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance. His last prior arrest was on June 6 of this year, when he was arrested on probation violation charges.
Arrest reports have listed several different addresses for Bass over the years, including addresses on River Road and County Road 49 in Silverhill, along with Loxley and Summerdale addresses.
