SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Calling all photographers.
The city of Spanish Fort needs images to populate its official website, currently a work-in-progress slated to debut later this year.
"We’re looking for photos of people, places and things," said District 5 City Councilwoman Mary Brabner, who has spearheaded the effort to transform the city’s online portal into a thriving informational hub.
Specifically, Brabner said the design team is seeking those images that define the city in order to both boost the site’s visual appeal and function as a one-stop shop for all things Spanish Fort.
"We’ve made huge progress, but it’s a very, very slow process," Brabner told the council during the informal July 18 work session.
Council members can expect a site map within the next few weeks, she said, that will offer a skeletal sketch of the website but no color or graphics.
Brabner is asking professional, amateur and even on-the-spot photographers to submit jpg files of their photos to spanishfortwebsite@gmail.com, or bring the images on disc or flash drive to City Hall. In most cases, city staff should be able to scan physical prints brought to City Hall, and if the resolution produced is high enough they can also be considered.
"This (design) group is putting forth a lot of effort, and when it’s finished it will be 100 percent ours, not something somebody built for us, but ours," Brabner said.
