SILVERHILL, Alabama — With Halloween set for Monday, officials from various municipalities in Central Baldwin County are reminding residents to be aware and cautioning trick-or-treaters to practice simple safety measures.
Police Chief Kim Wasdin said officers will be out in Silverhill, handing out glow sticks to trick-or-treaters on Monday.
Wasdin provided the following safety tips for trick-or-treaters to ensure a happy Halloween:
• Always trick-or-treat in groups, never alone.
• Anyone trick-or-treating who is under 15 should be accompanied by a parent or adult family member.
• Trick-or-treaters should wear reflective clothing.
• Candy should be eaten only after you have a chance to inspect it thoroughly.
• Always be aware of where you are trick-or-treating. Do not approach any house where the nights are off or if the house is in complete disrepair or the yard is overgrown.
• Do not approach any stranger on the street or anyone in a car who is offering candy.
A few events surrounding the Halloween observance have been planned for the area.
The Robertsdale Rotary Club will host its annual Doc Cooper’s Haunted Swamp event on Saturday at the home of Margaret and Dr. Keith Cooper in Robertsdale.
In Loxley, the Barnhill Farms Corn Maze and in Silverhill, Wales West’s Pumpkin Patch Express will be hosting events this weekend.
Trick-or-treaters will also be out in full force in Robertsdale and Loxley on Monday, but no specific plans have been set for either municipality.
Motorists in all three municipalities are urged to use caution when traveling at or around dark on Monday.
