Olive Elizabeth “Bettye” Rogers, 88, passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2014 at her residence in Elberta.
Bettye was born in Citronelle, graduated from Citronelle High School and attended the University of Alabama.
She was a member of Citronelle United Methodist Church.
Bettye lived in Meridian, Miss. for many years while her daughter grew up. She made her home in Mobile while working as a clerical worker for the Alabama Pensions and Security Department.
During her retirement she moved to Live Oak Assisted Living in Foley.
Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Dewey and Louella (Fairley) Wyatt; a brother, James D. Wyatt; former husband, Rex P. Rogers; brother-in-law, James H. Smith Jr.; sister-in-law, Virginia Speer Wyatt; and longtime companion, B.R. “Tabe” McLaney.
Bettye is survived by her daughter, Bettye Jo Rogers; sister, Mary Joan Wyatt Smith; three nieces, Judy Stokes Wyatt (John) Humphrey, Susan Virginia Wyatt (Douglas) Hurley and Martha Anne Wyatt (Mike) Boothe; and extended family and friends.
The family is extremely grateful for the tender loving care provided to her by Rebecca Lowry, Asceracare Hospice, Amedisys Home Health and Live Oak Assisted Living.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at Citronelle United Methodist Cemetery.
