BAY MINETTE, Ala. — At the May meeting of the Stockton Five Arts Club, Baldwin County High School senior Olivia Pruitt was awarded the club's annual scholastic scholarship.

Scholarship Committee Chair Dell Garner introduced the winner, along with her mother and grandmother, at the meeting in the home of Lillie Cox. She has been an active member of the French Club, the volleyball team and the National Honor Society and plans to attend Auburn University to pursue a degree in Engineering.

President Mary Flo Williams announced that plans were under way for the club-sponsored luncheon for graduating students from Vaughn Elementary School.  The tropical-themed event will be held at Stockton Presbyterian Church.

Charter member Lillie Cox gave an overview of the club's past accomplishments. The club was organized in 1925 by her father, I.P. Mason. He began the organization to encourage the systematic study and appreciation of the five arts: literature, architecture, music, painting, and sculpture.

Concluding the meeting was the Installation of Officers for the coming two years. The gavel was passed to newly elected President Marilyn Davidson.  Other officers are Vice President Georgene Conner, Recording Secretary Ruth Sherrell, Corresponding Secretary Margaret Logan, Treasurer Dianne Cooper, Historian Dell Garner, and Parliamentarian Sylvia Day.

Members will enjoy a summer recess and resume activity in October.
