One-vehicle crash claims life of Foley man

FOLEY, Ala. - Frederick O. Barlow, 47, of Foley, was killed July 13 on Baldwin County 65 near the Foley city limits when the vehicle he was driving struck a utility pole.

According to a press release by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Barlow was driving a 1991 Pontiac Bonneville and veered off the road and hit the pole around one-half mile west of the city limits. Alabama State Troopers responded at approximately 8:10 p.m. The release states Barlow was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two passengers, Ellen M. Parker, 43, and Gene S. Easley, 50, both of Foley, also were injured in the crash. Parker and Easley also were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle, the release states, noting Parker was transported by life flight to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and Easley was transported by life flight to USA Medical Center in Mobile and both were listed in critical condition.

The release states the incident is under investigation by state troopers. According to trooper Greg Eubanks, public information and education officer for the department, there is no update on the investigation of the crash and no word on the condition of the two surviving passengers as of Monday morning around 11 a.m.
