DAPHNE, Ala. — The Daphne Beautification Committee announced that the city of Daphne is having an open house before the annual Christmas Parade, Friday beginning at 5 p.m. at City Hall. DBC has provided a 15-foot Christmas tree to be placed in the atrium of the new City Hall building for the holiday season.
Light refreshments will be served during the event, which is open to the public. If you have never visited the new City Hall, you are especially encouraged to attend.
After the parade, hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served on the lawn at City Hall.
Sixth-grade students from all public schools in the Daphne area, Bayside Academy and Christ the King are painting the ornaments for the new tree with supplies provided by DBC. The ornaments were cut from wood in shapes of shrimp, flounder and crabs. Thus, the tree is called, “The Jubilee Tree.”
Pat Wilden, Daphne’s volunteer coordinator, reported that the students have been busy painting and decorating their ornaments since September.
The ornaments will be presented to Mayor Fred Small this week.
