Open House set for assisted-living center’s grand opening

DAPHNE, Ala.—The Blake, a new assisted-living retirement community in Malbis, will hold an open house Feb. 23, 4 to 8 p.m. at 11626 U.S. Highway 90.

The facility offers a number of amenities, which make it seem more like a resort than a retirement home. Spacious apartments with kitchenettes and private baths are offered for all residents, as are daily fine-dining offerings, a theater and on-site nursing staff, physical therapy, rehabilitation and exercise programs.

Natoshia Gallant, director of community relations, said, “We wanted to break away from anything that looked or felt institutional. Everyone wears resort style uniforms. The nurses don’t even wear scrubs,” she said.

The Blake caters to residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia with a specialized care program and response system.

Open-house guests can tour the facility and learn more.

“This will be a great opportunity to sample our cuisine,” said Gallant, adding the dining room offers 15 entrees at every meal and is open to the public daily.
