The 2014 season includes:
LEND ME A TENOR by Ken Ludwig
Directed by John Heald
Feb. 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
Our opening show is an agile farce that received nine Tony nominations, won two, and has been performed in 16 different languages. Set in the 1930s, this madcap comedy recounts what happens when Tito Merelli, the fiery-tempered and world famous Italian superstar, arrives in Cleveland, Ohio, to make his debut with the local opera as Othello, but goes missing just before the performance. No matter what the obstacles, the show must go on, and a young opera employee dons the costume to impersonate the missing tenor. But what happens when the real Merelli shows up again?
DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE by Jeffrey Hatcher
Directed by Jonne Thornton
May 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18
This is not the Jekyll and Hyde you’ve seen before. Hyde is portrayed by four different members of the cast, including a female. He meets a woman who stirs his interest and causes Jekyll to fear for her life. You won’t want to miss this erotic show, a much more intense and theatrical version of the well-known story.
THE GOOD DOCTOR by Neil Simon
Directed by Scotty White
July 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31 and Aug. 1, 2, 3
This Broadway hit is an entertaining composite of Neil Simon and Anton Chekhov. In one sketch, a feisty old woman storms a bank to attack the manager. In another, a father takes his son to a bordello to learn about sex but changes his mind, which really confuses the boy. One man offers to drown himself for three rubles. And these are just a sampling of the vignettes in this show. The stories are droll, the portraits affectionate, and the humor infectious!
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN by Jack Weinstock & Willie Gilbert
Directed by Timothy Guy
Oct. 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
Our final show is a comedy/mystery “whodunit” that is exciting from beginning to end. An ad man has brought his bride to a mountain lodge for their honeymoon…but, she disappears. After he calls the police, a pretty gal shows up with a priest, insisting that she is his wife. Soon, there are more murders. The last 15 minutes will reward you as a murder mystery should.
