LILLIAN, Alabama — The Optimist Club of Perdido Bay has a great way for Lillian residents to show patriotism on five major national holidays with their “Streets of Red, White and Blue” program.
For $35 per year, members of the club will place a three-foot by five-foot American Flag on a 10-foot pole in your front yard just before Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day.
The program begins with the placement of a receptacle approximately five feet from the street in front of the home. Club members will place flags before the holiday and remove them afterwards. The club is responsible for replacement of soiled, damaged or stolen flags.
The program is based on a very successful one started in the area by the Daphne Optimist Club.
All proceeds of the “Streets of Red, White and Blue” flag program will be used by the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay to support local youth in becoming tomorrow’s better citizens.
To subscribe, fill in a subscription form and mail it with your check for $35 to Optimist Club of Perdido Bay, P.O. Box 87, Lillian, AL 36549.
