ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — The buzz is “high pitched” with the appearance of cooler weather. Thanks to restaurants like Shipp’s Harbour Grill, Fisher’s, Pappas Pizza Pi and Orange Beach Cupcakes for donating food for the City Employee’s Appreciation lunch.  

Mayor Kennon wrote a letter thanking everyone that attended the Town Hall Meeting with the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Rumors are flying wild about the thoughts that Wildflower is expanding into its third location since it opened in Orange Beach. Wind and Water Learning Center has kayak fishing clinic for ages 14 and above on September 24th from 9am until noon. The cost is $70 and reservations can be made online at www.windandwaterlearning.com. Also, the Wind and Water Learning Center’s after-school sailing program still has a few slots available -- contact charris@cityoforangebeach.com. 

The Wharf Uncorked Wine and Culinary Event presented by Mercedes- Benz of mobile will be September 25-27. This three day event will combine delicious food, wines and live entertainment with some local flair. 

This Sunday, September 28, Orange Beach United Methodist Church youth, Gulf Shores United Methodist youth and Fairhope United Methodist Church youth will be competing in a Dodge Ball Tournament in Fairhope.  The fun begins at 5:30pm; Fairhope UMC and all are invited to come out and support their team. 

Consider donating can items to the Christian Service Center this week.  Their pantry always needs another can of food. 

It is time for Hunter Lanford to prepare for a trip to MD Anderson.  Consider liking his facebook page “Praying for Hunter Lanford” to keep up with his progress and upcoming fundraisers. Orange Beach Cupcakes is selling a dozen cupcakes for $20 to support Hunter. (Message Tim Hull on facebook). Raffle for a zero-turn lawn mower is also for Hunter’s medical expenses. Orange October coming up at the Wharf is yet another way our community can support Hunter. 

Friday, October 3 is the kick-off  of the Wind Creek LA Gumbo festival on Saturday, October 4. Check it out at www.gumboforlife.com. 

Hannah King of Orange Beach was elected to the Gulf Shores Middle School Homecoming Court. Congratulations Hannah! 

October 17 is Scarecrow Fest at the Coastal Art Center of Orange Beach.  Plan to build your scarecrow now by purchasing your stand. Great fun for a business or a family!  October 19 is Pops in the Park. This is a great concert by the Baldwin Pops each year on the campus of the Coastal Art Center and Waterfront Park.

National Shrimp Festival is coming October October 23.

Care House will have a Wine Event at Gilbey’s. Purchase a ticket or donate money for this child’s advocacy center. 

Coastal Christmas will include Trim-a-Tree at Tanger. Make sure to add business Christmas events to the Coastal Christmas Calendar at www.mycoastalbusinesschamber.com . 

Vote in today's referendum at Orange Beach Community Center from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.
