The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Rodeo that supports peer helper programs in our island schools was a great success. Consider donating to this great cause that provides services to all public and two private schools in Baldwin County.
Chuckle today at something you do and remember Tommy Tucker, a man that always had a chuckle, as our community celebrates his life of service. He gave sincere service to so many aspects of our community from poll watching, moving books for Library to another Garden Club project. (Chuckle.)
Krebs Architecture and Engineering, which had an office in Orange Beach providing jobs and professional services in our community for over 5 years during the Great Recession, celebrates the life and leadership of their President Ron Harris, who went to be with Jesus last week.
The Orange Beach Police Department is providing “Kid’s Night Out” at Waterfront Park on August 14, 5-7pm. Orange Beach United Methodist Church will conduct “Back to School Blessings” for all students, faculty and staff on August 17 in preparation for school starting on Monday, August 18. Keep your eyes on our children riding bikes and waiting for buses near our streets.
Wildflowers Boutique has been at market so ladies' new fashions will be arriving soon. Rumor has it that Orange Beach will be getting a cup cake shop. What is your favorite flavor?
August 16 is Kenney Chesney Concert at FloraBama with buses and crowds. Chesney will debut his new record and a song about the FloraBama. Then the next weekend will kick off with the Marshall Tucker Band at the Orange Beach Event Center on August 21 followed by Thunder On the Gulf August 22-24 with VIP set ups at The Island House Hotel and VIP viewing at Turquoise.
Another Broken Egg is on schedule to open by Labor Day. Repeat After Me has been developing their own line of custom furniture this Summer so check it out. Orange Blossom has custom picture frames and wall décor. Don’t forget to say hello to “Buddy”, the dog, at Coastal Cottage and Oh so Coastal as local shopping is a must.
The Coastal Art Center welcomes Mia Blume-Cantrell, BFA from Auburn, as the new resident potter. Call 981-ARTS and schedule a session. Congratulations to Adam Burges and Kerry Parks of The Hot Shop at the Coastal Art Center who have an exhibit entitled “Subliminal Stimulation” at The Eastern Shore Arts Center in Fairhope for the month of August.
Turtle hatching season is coming to an end but it has been very successful in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Visit the Nature Center at the Gulf State Park to say “Hi!” to Polly the Possum, Patches the Gopher and other reptiles. Pay a dollar at the gate.
