Orange Beach concert to benefit Christian Service Center

Posted

The popular Four Winds Barbershop Chorus will perform a concert Thursday, Feb. 9, at Orange Beach United Methodist Church to benefit the Christian Service Center. The concert will be preceded by a complimentary Snowbird Fellowship Dinner.

The Chorus, a combination of snowbirds and locals, began singing in 1994 with seven members. Now 30-plus strong, the group performs December through March under the leadership of Director Mack Stancil and Asst. Director Dave MacDonald.

Louie Lubahn, one of the original members, says they practice twice a week and perform, or “sing out”, once or twice a week during that time. The chorus members have been together a long time, and Louie joked that they need some newer, younger members to help carry on the tradition. If you are interested, please call Louie at 251-968-7399 or Jim Bero at 920-826-7397.

Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Since there will be no ticket sales, a “love offering” will be received. Orange Beach United Methodist Church is located at 28751 Canal Road, Orange Beach, AL 36561. For more information about the concert and dinner, call the church at 251-981-6751.

In its 21st year, the Christian Service Center is a "Hand Up" rather than a "Hand Out" agency. Clients are given immediate emergency aid as well as guidance on finding solutions to problems.

The CSC is a 100 percent volunteer agency funded by the churches of Pleasure Island, various community organizations, including the United Way of Baldwin County, and interested individuals. For more information please call the CSC at 251-968-5256 or visit our web page, www.cscgs.com.
