ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — In kindergarten, Mrs. Hollis’s class is learning about autumn. They went on the nature walk and observed fall.

They made leaf rubbings and had a leaf investigation, sang autumn songs and read autumn books. They completed their paper mache of apples.

Mrs. Holder’s second grade class is still learning about our world!

They are also learning about reptiles and landforms.

In math, they are learning how to count money and make change.

They even traded their table for desks. Many of them also got their vision tested.

Mrs. Cardwell’s sixth grade class in social studies is learning about the western frontier and the Indian reservations.

They are also reading a chapter book called the “Mixed up Files of Basil E. Frankweiler”.

In science, they are learning about minerals, crystals, and gemstones and mining too. They’re having great a time in math also with multiplying and dividing decimals.

Ms. Siegel’s sixth grade class is finishing their unit on Gary Paulsen’s book, “Hatchet”.

They are writing letters to Paulsen to tell him just how much they loved his book and look forward to reading more of his many stories.

In social studies, they are learning about the Ellis Island Experience of the immigrants in the late 1800-1900s.

In math they are wrapping up their unit on decimals. They have learned to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals.

The yearbook staff is really enjoying taking pictures of students and OBES staff around the school. They are excited about beginning to lay out the pages in the yearbook.

Sea, Sand, and Stars continues to host field trips this week with 231 visitors. Fairhope K-1, Central Christian first through fifth grades and Gulf Shores fourth graders have learned marine biology lessons with Mrs. Allen and astronomy lessons with Mrs. Brantley.revor Templeton and Dennis Mixson
