ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Join Charlie Williams, The Noiseguy, and the Orange Beach Public Library as they kick off the 2009 Summer Reading Program on June 11 at 3 p.m.
This year’s Family Program theme is “Be Creative @ Your Library,” and participants will explore the world through books, art, music and magic.
The Family Summer Reading Program is open to children preschool through fifth grade. Summer reading program participants set their own goals for summer reading, record their books on their reading logs and return the logs to the library.
Participants may attend all events without registering, but those who register will be eligible for certificates and prizes to be given at the Summer Reading Grand Finale on July 23.
Participants can register to attend these free events at the youth services desk of the Orange Beach Public Library, or online at the library’s Web site at www.orangebeachlibrary.org.
Orange Beach Public Library Family Summer Reading Program schedule:
•Preschool Storytime every Tuesday at 10 a.m.
•June 11, Join Noiseguy Charlie Williams for some wild and crazy storytelling.
•June 18, “BE-AT Your Best” with Mark Seymour and his high-energy music.
•June 25, Enjoy art with book illustrator Michael P. White. This could be the start of something big.
•July 2, Let Russell Davis amaze you with his “Magic of Reading.”
•July 9, Sing along with Ms. Valerie’s Fun with Music.
•July 16, Enjoy theater presentation of “Sleeping Ugly.”
•July 23, Grand Finale. Prizes Awarded!
To celebrate the start of the Teen Summer Reading Program, all area teens are invited to come “Express Yourself @ the Library” and create a teen magazine on June 11 4 p.m.
The teen summer reading program encourages self-expression through the arts. Teens are invited to come to the library and read for prizes as well as take part in special events offered every Thursday throughout the summer.
The summer reading program will begin on June 11, at 4 p.m., and meet every Thursday through July 30.
Rising sixth through 12th grade young adults can register to attend these free events at the youth services desk of the Orange Beach Public Library.

•June 11, Express Yourself! Create a teen magazine!
•June 18, “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.” Sing along to favorite songs karaoke style.
•June 25, Join Michael P. White as he demonstrates airbrush art.
•July 2, Russell Davis will present tricks of the trade at his MAGIC WORKSHOP.
•July 9, Experience Music 101 with Ms. Valerie.
•July 16, Cast Party for the Teen Players.
•July 23, Grand Finale Reading Accomplishments acknowledged.
•July 30, Teen Movie Time.
