Orange Beach Library offering web classes

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — By popular demand, the Orange Beach Public Library is offering its Monday, 10 a.m. laptop users group classes during the month of May.

Come try out the classes in a smaller environment that offers plenty of time for individual questions. The schedule is:

All classes meet in the library meeting room and are open and free to the public.

Also coming in May, the Orange Beach Public Library is proud to be one of the 100-plus libraries in the state offering deployed military members and their families at home an opportunity to meet via video webcam at the library through the Connecting Families Program.

Alabamians and military families will be able to schedule appointments with the library to come in and use the technology to see and talk to their deployed family members.

Alabama is the only state in the nation with this program. Connecting Families is a partnership between the public library service and the Alabama Broadband Initiative that Gov. Bob Riley launched earlier this year.

The program was started with grant funds from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

For more information about the computer classes or scheduling a Web conference appointment with your deployed family member, please contact the library at 981-2923.
