Orange Beach opens heated shelter for residents

Posted

Orange Beach, AL— as of noon on Jan. 28 the City of Orange Beach offices will remain open with skeleton crews of essential services today and Wednesday, Jan. 29. Some services may be limited.

City of Orange Beach Community Center will be open starting at 5 p.m. Jan. 28 for anyone in the Orange Beach community in need of heat. At 5 p.m. Jan. 29 a determination will be made to continue availability of this facility through Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

Anyone using this facility will need to bring personal comfort items including medications.

In anticipation of icy road conditions, road treatment operations are under way. The Beach Express, Perdido Pass, and Ono Island bridges are scheduled to receive sand.

Travel is not recommended, but if so, drivers are urged to use caution through Wednesday night, and reduce their speeds and watch for icy spots.

At this time there are no plans to close any roadways.

The EMA Director and City Officials will continue to monitor the situation and will make changes as needed.

If non-emergency assistance is needed, please call the Orange Beach Fire Department at 251-981-6166.
