The City of Orange Beach is considering a sign ordinance change that would allow digital signs in the city.  The Orange Beach Business Advisory Committee met on May 22nd at City Hall, along with Kit Alexander of Community Development, to discuss the issues surrounding this change. The committee was positively satisfied with the direction of the ordinance.  The Orange Beach Planning Commission will next hear a presentation regarding this ordinance at 4:00pm, June10th in City Council Chambers.  All are welcome to attend.

Among considerations to possibly include in a future digital sign ordinance:

• Digital signs allowed on premise in zoning designations of Commercial/Industrial/Mixed use, NOT condo properties

• Height of 8ft or less off existing grade -

• Allow 60% of total signage space to be digital

• Brightness – must be 'Turtle-Friendly' lighting, dimming at Night and static after 10pm

• Signs must comply with Alabama DOT requirements and meet standards of Orange Beach Overlay District
