Ordinance regulating public nuisance animals on the horizon

FOLEY, Ala. - The Foley City Council held the first read at Monday's council meeting for an ordinance that will regulate public nuisance animals in the city.

"Mainly, the ordinance is to help (the police department) do something where we've got barking animals all night," Police Chief David Wilson said at the council work session.

The ordinance requires officers to go to the scene and see the public nuisance incident first hand

"We're going to need to witness it to enforce it," Wilson said, noting this will eliminate any chance of a "bad neighbor situation."

"There are people getting fired up on either side," he said.

The next council meeting is scheduled for April 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Foley City Hall. The work session will begin at 4 p.m.
