Ossie Victor Morris, 91, a native and resident of the Gateswood Community, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 at his residence.

He was an aircraft mechanic for Pensacola Naval Air Station. He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Sanders) Morris of Gateswood; his children, Sandra Morris (Jack) Lewis of Nashville, Tenn. and Sharon Morris (Jimmy) Cooper of Gateswood; one sister, Wilma Taylor of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lt. Cdr. Todd Lewis, Tiffany Gross and Kristi Stevens; and nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alexandra, Ted and Jade Lewis, Jackson, Romy and Hudson Gross and Sheridan and Jadon Stevens.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Morris.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Hamilton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Frank Trotter officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Baptist Cemetery in Gateswood.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 from 1 until 2 p.m. at Hamilton Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Tommy Taylor, Dan Gross, Lee Irwin, Bud Cox, Jerry Miller and David Irwin. Honorary pallbearers are R.L. Morris, Bill Peterson, Frank Maraman, L.C. Morris, J.T. Allena and Orlan Allen.
