SPANISH FORT, Ala. — This year, see what happens when amateur photographers take off their caps — and let the world revolve around their lenses.
For the next 10 months, a collection of winning images from the 2008 Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest will travel the state, highlighting the best in Alabama’s natural beauty.
These spectacular color photographs were all taken in Alabama, by amateur photographers, within the last two years.
Plants and animals in the photos are all native to the state. The winners represent seven categories, including: scenic/pictorial, birds, mammals, reptiles/amphibians/fish, other wildlife, nature-based recreation, and flora.
Sponsored by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Outdoor Alabama Photo Contest and this traveling collection of winning photographs are designed to draw attention to the spectacular scenery Alabama has to offer.
From water and wildlife, flora and fauna, breath-taking views and nature-based fun, these snapshots showcase the land and life Alabamians love.
Some subjects are slithering, some sparkling, others explosive and inspiring, mesmerizing and mystical. This magnificent collection truly has something to captivate everyone.
Scales, tails, lightning, leaves and fishing line — it’s life like we don’t usually picture it. Alabama’s beauty is bold, breathtaking, and right here for you to see — outside and now indoors.
The exhibit is on display locally at 5 Rivers, Alabama’s Delta Resource Center, 30945 Five Rivers Blvd. in Spanish Fort.
It will hang through April 16.
The center is open Monday through Sunday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call (251) 625-0814.
