FOLEY - OWA hosted the 2nd Annual Community Safety Day on Sat., Aug. 24, filling the streets of Downtown OWA and The Park with citizens coming out to meet their local community safety workers and first responders. The event was free to attend.

People were able to climb into Foley Fire Department’s firetruck, Medstar Air’s helicopter, have a photo op with Smokey Bear, and play some fun games during the walk-around event. The Fire Department had their inflatable firehouse set up for kids to learn about the proper way to handle a house fire, and Foley Police Department was onsite with their K9 unit performing demonstrations on and off throughout the afternoon. Over 20 different public safety and law enforcement departments came out, and many citizens were there to show their support and appreciation. Along with K9 demos, guests witnessed rappelling off buildings, helicopter landings, and a race through the streets of Downtown OWA at 7:30 p.m.
