ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Two suspects were arrested Tuesday, June 22 following a high-speed chase on Interstate 10.
According to a release from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to stop a car traveling westbound on I-10 for a switched tag when the suspect vehicle began to flee, reaching speeds of 125 miles per hour.
“Another deputy deployed tire deflating spikes and the suspect vehicle ultimately stopped on the causeway,” according to the release. “The occupants were arrested without further incident.”
The driver, Terrell DeMario Smith, 26, of Mobile was charged with attempting to elude, reckless endangerment, driving while revoked, operating a vehicle with a switched tag and criminal mischief. He had existing charges from Mobile County and Escambia County, Fla.
The passenger, Jerry Daniel Nettles, 41, of Mobile, was charged with giving a false name to a law enforcement officer. He also had existing charges from Mobile County.
As of Thursday, both suspects were being held without bond at Baldwin
County Corrections.
