ORANGE BEACH, AL – A Bear Point woman and a man with a Fairhope address were arrested on Jan. 22 at home on North Bayshore Avenue and jailed on drug charges.

Tonya Thompson McGuff, 49, listed the home as her address in jail records while Robby Todd McGuff, also 49, is listed as having a Fairhope address.

“Basically it was following up on a narcotics complaint and officers went down there knocked on the door and spoke with the folks,” Lt. Steve Brown said. “They ended up making the arrests.”

Tonya McGuff was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held on $34,500 worth of bonds.

Robby McGuff was charged with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and manufacture of a controlled substance. He was held on $33,000 worth of bonds.

“Whether or not they were running a meth lab I don’t know,” Brown said. “They had all the components to make the charge of manufacturing. They were arrested for that. Whether they were in the process of cooking it right then, I can’t say that. They had all the necessary tools and ingredients to manufacture.”

According to jail records Robby McGuff was also arrested in December for possession of a sawed off shotgun or rifle.
