It is estimated there are currently more than 1,000 positions in the hospitality industry that need to be filled for the season. With an unemployment rate in Baldwin County of only 4.8 percent this job fair is targeting people who may currently have a part time position but are interested in working additional hours.
The Cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have promoted the job fair to their part time employees in an effort to help the local businesses. The Chamber has started working with the local businesses, career centers, educational institutions, the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Tourism, and the cities to address the need for additional seasonal worker and are working on some long term solutions.
"I was trying to find a way to help our members now, and thought that this type of job fair might be the answer,” Smith said. "Anyone who is seeking a job is welcome to attend the event."
Any member who has openings and would like to attend the event should contact Smith. If a member can’t attend for the whole day they can fill out a template with the titles of the jobs they have and the Chamber will collect the names of the people interested in those positions.
For more information about participating please contact Smith at the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber. The chamber office is at 3150 Gulf Shores Parkway.
