Anton “Tony” Pastorcich died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 10, 1921 in the small community of Rabun. He was the son of Anton Sr. and Ancia Pastorcich, who immigrated from Croatia, Yugoslavia to America in the early 1900s In 1943 he was called to serve his country during World War II. He married his wife of 63 years, Orpah Bryars Pastorcich in 1945, while still serving his country. They were stationed in Boston, MA. He spent three years in the U.S. Army before reentering civilian life in 1946. He and his wife settled in Bay Minette. He worked for Hadley Motor Company for 38 years before opening his own business, Tony's Body and Radiator Shop and served his community's auto needs until he retired due to ill health. He was an avid sportsman and was very active in his church, serving as a deacon for many years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Pastorcich in 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Orpah; his daughter, Sandra Barrineau of Pensacola, Fla.; his daughter-in-law Becky Pastorcich of Mobile; niece, Margaret Reid of Spanish Fort; four grandsons, Mark and Andy Barrineau and Matthew and John Pastorcich; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 from the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Snodgrass officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mark Barrineau, Andy Barrineau, Matthew Pastorcich, John Michael Pastorcich, Jim Reid and Jim Darnley.
