Paul C. Palmer died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010 at home.

He was born Nov. 30, 1930 in Columbia, Miss., the third son of six children of Edgar and Mildred Palmer.

He played halfback at Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi, ran track at USM and MSU. He was an engineering graduate from Mississippi State. He served his country on the USS Boxer during the Korean War.

He married Jean Caver Palmer of Pascagoula, Miss., in 1955 and had four children, Karen Palmer Lambuth of Daphne, Daniel Palmer of Daphne, the late Patti Palmer of Pascagoula, and Barbie Palmer Slade of Hattiesburg, Miss. He had two grandchildren, Lauren Lambuth of Daphne and Austin Slade of Hattiesburg, Miss. He lived with his family in Pascagoula, Miss., for many years before moving to Daphne. He also has three surviving siblings, Cecil Palmer of Madison, Miss., Helen Odom of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Jenna Lewis of Pensacola, Fla.

A Holy Eucharist and memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne. Visitation and luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
