Paul J Topmiller Jr., 88, born Feb. 23, 1922 in Indianapolis, former resident of Gulf Shores and a resident of Sun City West, Ariz., died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010.

He graduated from Cathedral High School and joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as a bombadier in World War II. Returning he married Dorothy Memmer.

He was active in the Knights of Columbus and the Church.

After retiring as chief risk underwriter for FHA, he and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Gulf Shores, where they lived in their Fort Morgan home for 20 years and where he served as chief of the Volunteer Fire Department. Their next move was to Sun City West, Ariz., where they were surrounded by children and grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Paul Topmiller Sr. and Mary Laudick Topmiller; brother, Don; and sisters, Bernice Peek, Marcella Stipher, Dolores Drew, Madonna Grothaus-Crower, and Marita Main.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Topmiller; eight children, Steve (Sandy) Topmiller, Ann Topmiller (Lisa), Marita (Bob) Hall, Mary (Denny) Rolfsen, Michael (Pam) Topmiller, Vickie (Steve) Marsh, Molly (Charlie) Rogers and Pat (Jan) Topmiller; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sun City West, Ariz. Internment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

Arrangements are by Camino Del Sol of Sun City West, Ariz.
