Paula Frances Baxter, 74, of Foley, peacefully passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 surrounded by her husband and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Young of New Orleans, La.
Paula is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Gerald “Jerry” John Baxter; her brother, Alvin Young Jr.; sister-in-law, Barbara Baxter Chabert of Marrero, La.; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Michael and Cathy Murphy of Chadds Ford, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who fondly remember her as “Aunt P.”
In her younger years, Paula grew up in Jackson, Miss., and later moved to New Orleans, where she attended Fortier High School and met Jerry. They had a wonderful life together and lived in many places across the United States where they made many lifelong friendships.
Prior to retiring in Foley, Paula and Jerry lived in Wauwatosa, Wisc. for 26 years, and before that they lived in Seattle, Wash. and Albuquerque, N.M., and many other cities where Jerry’s job took them.
Paula was a kind and gentle soul. She was beautiful in every way and the epitome of a Southern lady, even down to her sweet, Southern accent.
Paula was full of love for her family, friends and darling puppies, who gave her much joy throughout her life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who gave their time to provide us with their love during this time of grief.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.
